Clay Cranford is the Vice President of the Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association, Chairman of the Forfeiture Committee and a member of the Legislative Committee. Clay is as an Assistant District Attorney in the Twelfth Circuit Court District covering Forrest and Perry County under District Attorney Lin Carter. He is certified in both gang prosecution and human trafficking prosecution and has completed the Advanced Digital Evidence for Prosecutor’s course at the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI). He has also served as the municipal prosecutor for the City of Poplarville for more than a decade. Clay has previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Fifteenth Circuit Court District covering Lamar, Marion, Pearl River, Lawrence and Jefferson Davis County. Last year, Clay served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association and Vice-Chairman of the Forfeiture Committee.
Clay received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. He furthered his education at the University of Southern Mississippi by earning a Master in Public Health Administration with an emphasis on Healthcare Policy. Clay obtained his law degree at Southern University School of Law in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Clay is licensed to practice law in all federal and state courts in both Louisiana and Mississippi. In 2019, Clay was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Clay is married to Lindsay Cranford, who currently serves as Deputy Attorney General under Attorney General Lynn Fitch, and they are raising two (2) daughters.
